Headteacher Hotwells Primary School
Job description
Responsible to: CST Executive Principal and Hotwells Local Governing Body

(0.8 FTE equal to £51,314 to £55,255)
Hours: Full time or part time (0.8FTE)
Start date: 1st January 2023
Cathedral Schools Trust is seeking to appoint a Headteacher

Primary School from 1st January 2023. The Headteacher will work closely with the Executive Principal, Head of Primary Phase and other Headteachers within the Trust, as well as the Local Governing Body and staff within the school, to provide exceptional provision for children and families.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking Headteacher to lead this vibrant school in central Bristol. The successful candidate should be a role model of the Trust’s core values by being creative, collaborative and reflective. They must be willing to work closely with colleagues across the Trust whilst having a clear vision to move the school forward.
The staff at Hotwells are highly committed to providing an inspiring learning environment for their pupils. There is a strong culture of camaraderie across the team where laughter, teamwork and cooperation are highly valued. Staff development and learning are prioritised and there are extensive professional development opportunities within the trust.
Hotwells is a one form entry school with nursery provision at the heart of a supportive and close local community. It prides itself on providing an experiential curriculum, a nurturing environment and a community of confident, curious learners. Its city centre location enables staff and pupils to make excellent use of the rich learning opportunities on their doorstep. The school actively promotes both the local and the global as well as having an emerging focus on the performing arts. The Year 6 musical is an annual highlight and children participate in a wide range of opportunities to perform.
Although judged requires improvement in September 2018, the school has made significant progress in the last year with the introduction of a new curriculum, phonics programme and assessment procedures. The school is well poised to make further improvements through a well established culture of teamwork and the support of the Cathedral Schools Trust.
Cathedral Schools Trust is made up of three secondary schools (Bristol Cathedral Choir School, St Katherine's School and Trinity Academy) and six primary schools (Headley Park, Cathedral Primary, Stoke Park, St Werburgh’s, Hotwells and Victoria Park). Staff across the schools work closely together and there are a wide range of networking opportunities.
If you can demonstrate that you possess the necessary experience, knowledge and qualifications, and aspire to our values and vision, then we would like to hear from you.
Visits to the school are encouraged - if you would like to arrange one, or for an informal discussion about the role, please use the contact details included on the job description document.
Please note that we will only consider applications through iTrent and will not consider CVs so please ensure that your supporting statement on the application meets the requirements of the person specification. We encourage you to be succinct and to restrict your supporting statement to no more than four pages in length.
Closing date: Sunday 18th September 2022, midnight
Interview: Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th September 2022
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check upon appointment.
Cathedral Schools Trust is an equal opportunities employer and recognises the strength in diversity. Our schools have a wide range of cultural, socio economic and religious influences and we use this to ensure that we broaden our understanding of each other and the world. Applications are welcome from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or religious belief, sex or sexual orientation, gender reassignment, disability or age, and maternity, marital or civil partner status. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups.
Notes: The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by The Principal, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title. This document does not form part of your contract of employment with the school.
